Ira L. Slade, head of the Trusts and Estates Practice Group at Slade & Newman, over the course of a career in excess of 38 years, has developed a range of experience and expertise of enormous depth and breadth.
He has handled Trust, Estate and Matrimonial/Family issues of every size and level of complexity, including estate planning, trust administration, divorce settlements and all kinds of family-related litigations before the various County Surrogates’ Courts. Mr. Slade has brought the same consistently high level of accomplishment and dedication to everything in which he is involved.


 

 

Mr. Slade has served as executor and trustee on countless occasions, for estates and trusts of all sizes. He has successfully negotiated substantial and complex tax matters with the IRS, and litigated across a wide range of Trust and Estate issues.His matrimonial clients have included celebrities as well as those who shun the limelight. On their behalf, he has negotiated highly advantageous settlements and successfully litigated many complicated valuation-related financial issues.
After graduating from CCNY in 1959 with a degree in Business Administration and qualifying as a CPA in 1962, Mr. Slade worked for Ernst & Young as an Estate and Trust Accountant/Attorney. He graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 1964 and was admitted to the NYS Bar in 1965. In the same year he joined Hess Segall Guterman Pelz & Steiner, a 7-lawyer firm specializing in Estate and Trust matters, where he eventually headed the Estates and Trusts department and became a partner in 1974. The firm grew to 44 lawyers before merging with Loeb & Loeb, a 180 attorney California firm, in 1986
